The single most common mistake renters make is sizing a boom lift to their working height instead of their platform height. Always add roughly 6 feet to your target working height to account for the operator and the platform rail.
Choose an articulating boom when you need to reach up and over obstacles — walls, equipment, or landscaping. Choose a telescopic (straight) boom when you need maximum straight-line height and horizontal outreach, like steel erection or tall facade work.
